A Smash alternative for small files

Smash is popular for sending big media files. For small files you want to pass on with a short code, ShareQuik is an alternative. Try it below.

  • 100 MB per share
  • 8-character code
  • 3 days, extendable to 15
  • No account

Add files and/or text, then generate a share code. At least one is required.

Find

Enter a share code to access shared content.

The 8-character code from the sender: 2 letters, then 6 digits.

Smash’s pricing page describes a free tier with no sign-up, transfers valid for 7 days, and no hard size cap. Transfers above 2 GB join a queue behind paying users rather than being sent immediately.

ShareQuik doesn’t compete on size. It caps shares at 100 MB, uploads them straight away, and gives you an 8-character code instead of a link.

How ShareQuik works

  1. Step 1

    Add files or text

Drop files into the Share panel above, up to 100 MB in total, or paste up to 3,000 words of text.

  2. Step 2

    Generate a share code

Select Generate Code. ShareQuik uploads everything and shows a code like BX678095 that you can copy, text or read out.

  3. Step 3

    The recipient enters the code

On any ShareQuik page they type the code into the Find panel, enter an email address, and download the files.

How ShareQuik differs from Smash

  • Code-based hand-off

Recipients type a short code, which suits phone calls and moving files to your own devices.

  • Text with the files

Add up to 3,000 words of notes or instructions in the same share.

  • Optional 15 days

Extend a share beyond a week when the recipient needs more time.

ShareQuik vs Smash

For video work, Smash is generally the stronger choice: no fixed cap, previews and password options. ShareQuik is the lighter option for clips and documents under 100 MB.

When each makes sense

  • Smash: long or high-resolution footage, transfers of several gigabytes, branded or password-protected transfers.
  • ShareQuik: a short clip, a few photos or a document, passed on with a code you can say out loud.
