Send large files that are too big for email

Email usually stops at 20–25 MB. ShareQuik takes up to 100 MB per share, with no account. Drop your files below and send the 8-character code.

“Large” depends on where you’re sending from. To an email service, a 40 MB presentation is too big. To a video editor, 40 MB is nothing. ShareQuik is built for the files that are too big for email and chat apps but not huge: up to 100 MB per share.

If you’re sending several gigabytes, ShareQuik isn’t the right tool, and we’d rather tell you now. The section below explains your options.

How ShareQuik works

  1. Step 1

    Add files or text

Drop files into the Share panel above, up to 100 MB in total, or paste up to 3,000 words of text.

  2. Step 2

    Generate a share code

Select Generate Code. ShareQuik uploads everything and shows a code like BX678095 that you can copy, text or read out.

  3. Step 3

    The recipient enters the code

On any ShareQuik page they type the code into the Find panel, enter an email address, and download the files.

Why use ShareQuik for files email rejects

  • Four times a typical attachment limit

Up to 100 MB per share, compared with around 25 MB for most email services.

  • Several files in one go

Add a batch of files to the same share; the 100 MB limit covers them all together.

  • No account or app

Upload in the browser and send the code. The recipient downloads in their browser too.

Files bigger than 100 MB?

You have three realistic choices:

  1. Make them smaller. Compressing videos and images, or zipping folders of documents, often brings a transfer under the limit. Our guide to compressing files for sharing shows how.
  2. Split them across shares. Five 90 MB shares with titles like “Part 1 of 5” works for batches of photos or documents.
  3. Use a large-file service. For single files of several gigabytes, use a service with a higher limit. Our WeTransfer alternatives page compares the free tiers.

How the 100 MB limit is counted

  • The limit applies to the total size of all files in a share, not to each file.
  • ShareQuik counts in binary megabytes: 100 MB is 104,857,600 bytes. Your computer may show the same file as “100 MB” or “105 MB” depending on how it counts.
  • Text you add to a share doesn’t count toward the 100 MB; it has its own limit of 3,000 words.

If your file is just over the limit, small reductions are usually easy: re-export a video at a slightly lower bitrate, save a PDF with “reduced size” settings, or put a folder into a ZIP archive. The compression guide covers each.

Tips for uploading large files

  • Use a stable connection. A 100 MB upload on a slow mobile connection can take several minutes; keep the page open until the code appears.
  • Check the running total. The Share panel shows the combined size of your files against the 100 MB limit as you add them.
  • Give the share a title so the recipient knows what they’re downloading before they start.

Frequently asked questions

What is the largest file I can send with ShareQuik?

100 MB per share. That can be one file or several files whose sizes add up to 100 MB or less.

Can I send a 1 GB file?

Not as one share. Compress or split it, or use a large-file transfer service with a higher limit.

Will my files be compressed?

No. ShareQuik stores and delivers your files exactly as you uploaded them.

Can I send exactly 100 MB?

Yes. Shares up to and including 104,857,600 bytes (100 MB) are accepted.

How long does a 100 MB upload take?

It depends on your upload speed. On a 10 Mbps upload connection, 100 MB takes roughly a minute and a half.
