Send files between iPhone and Android
Open this page on the phone that has the files, add them below and select Generate Code. On the other phone, open ShareQuik, type the code and download. It works the same in both directions.

The 8-character code from the sender: 2 letters, then 6 digits.
iPhones and Android phones don’t share a built-in way to send files on most models. AirDrop is Apple-only unless you have one of the newer Android phones that support it, and an iPhone won’t send files to an Android phone over Bluetooth. So people end up emailing themselves or sending files through a messaging app that shrinks photos and videos.
ShareQuik runs in the browser on both phones, so there’s nothing to install and the files arrive unmodified, at full resolution.
How ShareQuik works
- Step 1
On the sending phone
Open ShareQuik in Safari or Chrome, tap Select Files and pick photos, videos or documents (up to 100 MB in total). Tap Generate Code.
- Step 2
Share the code
Tell the other person the 8-character code, or message it to them.
- Step 3
On the receiving phone
Open ShareQuik, type the code into Find, enter an email address and tap to download. Files save to the phone’s Downloads or Files app.
Why it works well across platforms
Nothing to install on either phone
Both sides use the browser that’s already on the phone, so it works on a friend’s phone without asking them to download an app.
Full-quality photos and videos
Files are sent as they are, without the compression many messaging apps apply to media.
Works when you’re not side by side
The code works for days, so you can send to someone in another city, not just in the same room.
Sending from an iPhone: what to expect
- Picking files: Select Files opens a menu where you can choose from your photo library or the Files app.
- Photo format: iPhones often save photos as HEIC. Most recent Android phones open HEIC, but if the recipient’s can’t, set Settings > Camera > Formats to Most Compatible to shoot new photos as JPEG.
- Video length: iPhone video, especially 4K, is large. A 100 MB share fits a short clip; for longer videos see sending large video files.
Sending from Android to an iPhone
The steps are the same in reverse. On the iPhone, downloads go to the Files app (in the Downloads folder by default). Photos and videos can then be saved to the photo library from there with the Share button.
Other ways to move files between iPhone and Android
- Quick Share with AirDrop: Google has made Quick Share work with AirDrop, starting with the Pixel 10 and expanding to more Android phones. If both phones support it, it’s fast and needs no internet, with the iPhone set to receive from Everyone for 10 minutes.
- Cloud storage: Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive on both phones, which suits large or regular transfers if you both have accounts.
- Switching phones entirely: use the platform migration tools, which move contacts, messages and settings as well as files. ShareQuik is for individual files, not migrations.
Frequently asked questions
Can I AirDrop to an Android phone?
Only to Android phones that support Google’s Quick Share and AirDrop compatibility, which started with the Pixel 10. For other phones, use a browser-based method like ShareQuik, or a cloud drive.
Will my photos lose quality?
No. ShareQuik sends files unchanged, so photos and videos keep their original resolution.
How many photos can I send at once?
As many as fit in 100 MB. Phone photos are often 2–5 MB each, so a share usually holds a few dozen.
Do both phones need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. Each phone just needs an internet connection. They can be on different networks or in different countries.
