Enter a share code to access shared content.

The 8-character code from the sender: 2 letters, then 6 digits.

Moving a file between your own devices shouldn’t need a USB stick, a cable or logging in to your email on a computer that isn’t yours. A short code bridges the gap: you only need a browser on both ends.

Because the code is just two letters and six digits, it’s quick to type on a phone, a TV browser or a locked-down work machine where you’d rather not sign in to personal accounts.

How ShareQuik works

  1. Step 1

    Upload on the first device

Open this page on the device that has the file and add it to the Share panel.

  2. Step 2

    Note the code

Generate the code. Eight characters are easy to remember for the few seconds it takes to switch devices.

  3. Step 3

    Download on the second device

Open ShareQuik on the other device, enter the code in the Find panel, add an email address and download.

Why use a code to move files between devices

  • Works across platforms

iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS all have a browser, and that’s all ShareQuik needs.

  • No personal logins on shared machines

Transfer a file to a library, office or hotel computer without signing in to your cloud account there.

  • Faster than typing a URL

Eight characters beat copying a long link from one screen to another by hand.

Common device-to-device transfers

Phone to computer

Photos, scans and screen recordings onto a laptop for editing or printing. See our phone to PC guide.

Computer to phone

A boarding pass, ticket PDF or document you need on the go.

Between two computers

Work laptop to home desktop, or old PC to new one for a handful of files.

To a public or shared computer

Print a file at a library or copy shop without logging into email there.

Limits to keep in mind

Each share holds up to 100 MB. That covers most documents, many photos and short videos, but not a full phone backup or a library of 4K video. For moving tens of gigabytes between your own computers, a cable, an external drive or your operating system’s built-in sync will be faster.

Everything you upload passes through ShareQuik’s servers, so both devices need an internet connection. Files are kept in private storage and deleted when the share expires.

Frequently asked questions

Do both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

No. The transfer goes through the internet, so the devices can be anywhere.

Do I need an app?

No. ShareQuik runs in the browser on both devices.

Why does the download ask for an email address?

Recipients enter an email address before the Download button appears. It isn’t a login, and you can use any address you check.
